Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV: the best choice of electrified SUV under $ 40,000

Are you looking for an SUV that will not cost you a fortune to buy and that will allow you to save money on a daily basis? You can stop your search, the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV has all the assets to convince you.

The plug-in hybrid SUV is the only one in its class to offer unparalleled energy performance, comfort and handling. Since its arrival in Canadian 18 months ago, the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV has shaken up the SUV segment and continues to be talked about. All specialists agree on its revolutionary aspect and the first owners are delighted with the savings they make.

No other electrified SUV offers this kind of benefits for such an affordable price!

Revolutionary plug-in hybrid technology

The Outlander PHEV is a plug-in hybrid SUV equipped with revolutionary technology. Three modes of driving are available to suit your needs and driving conditions. They are automatically selected according to the conditions of use and the charge of the battery. Consumption is optimized and you never lose power.

The EV or 100% electric driving mode is the ally of urban rides with no fuel consumption nor CO2 emissions. Hybrid series provides a powerful ride that is ideal for climbing a hill, for example. When the parallel hybrid mode is engaged, the electric motors support the conventional engine and the surplus energy allows the battery to be recharged while driving.

Plug in your Outlander PHEV and get ready to ride miles without worrying about going to the gas station! Whether for daily trips or more distant trips, you will be captivated by its combined consumption of 3.2 Le / 100 km.

Impressive savings

The Outlander PHEV is the ideal vehicle to save money on a daily basis. In addition to the government rebates (Quebec rebate and new federal rebate) that lower the purchase price, you reduce your fuel consumption.

Indeed, you can ride in "all electric" mode over short distances, the ideal configuration for all your trips in town. To recharge, nothing more simple, a regular 120 volts outlet is all you need. So you can easily charge the SUV, whether at home or at work!

As a plug-in hybrid vehicle, the Outlander PHEV benefits from the green plate and all the benefits associated with it, such as free access to highways 25 and 30 thanks to a transponder, free access to paying bridges (A25 and A30) and free parking in some municipalities

Great manoeuvrability in any season

The Outlander PHEV adapts to all conditions, even during Quebec winter. Indeed, the plug-in electric hybrid SUV is the only one with a four-wheel drive function in 100% electric mode. This keeps all the energy efficiency of EV mode while enjoying the power of Super All-Wheel Control.

Mitsubishi Motors' patented Super All-Wheel Control gives you greater maneuverability, safety and reliability, regardless of road or weather conditions. Your driving experience is done with confidence thanks to more stability and traction.

This impression is enhanced by electronically controlled coupling, allowing better control on slippery surfaces, active stability control, which reduces the risk of understeer or oversteer  in tough cornering situations and anti-lock brakes, which prevent skidding in case of emergency braking.

Unique comfort for the whole family

In addition to being extremely efficient in terms of fuel consumption, power and driveability, the Outlander PHEV has all the comfort and safety you expect from an SUV.

The driver and passengers enjoy stylish finishes, such as a heated steering wheel or electric sunroof, available as an option. The latest technology are in the plug-in SUV, such as a 7 "LCD compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto or a mobile application to control air conditioning and heating, schedule charging and more from your smartphone.

Safety abounds in the Outlander PHEV with Blind Spot Warning with Lane Change Assist and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. Front and side airbags, side curtain airbags and driver knee airbag enhance your peace of mind.

New federal rebate: Outlander PHEV 2019, more affordable than ever!

Is it still necessary to introduce the outlander PHEV? The plug-in hybrid SUV has been breaking record sales since its launch in early 2018 in Canada. And it is no coincidence with a more affordable price.

A new federal incentive

A new federal rebate of $ 2,500, effective May 1, 2019, has been announced by the government. This is in addition to the $ 4000 provincial discount already granted to buyers of a Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV in Quebec. The SUV now offers a value for money even more attractive than it already was!

In order to benefit its customers from this rebate in April, Mitsubishi has launched a $ 2,500 dealer incentive program on the 2018 Outlander PHEV pending the federal incentive program coming into effect. This initiative enabled 505 Canadians to take possession of the plug-in hybrid model in April. Since its launch in 2013, the Outlander PHEV has sold 200,000 copies worldwide, becoming the world's best selling plug-in hybrid vehicle.

The interest of Quebec drivers for this type of environmentally friendly vehicle is growing thanks to the many benefits it brings to everyday life.

Are you still hesitating?

Motorists who have been driving the revolutionary SUV for several months have been won over first by fuel savings. The 2019 Outlander PHEV thus displays an impressive combined consumption of 3.2 Le / 100 km.

With more than 10.6 million vehicles sold in some 200 countries in 2017, Renault, Nissan Motor and Mitsubishi Motors are the first automobile alliance in the world. This new agreement with Google will allow to equip the various vehicles of the Group with intelligent infotainment services and applications developed by the Internet giant through its Android operating system.

This includes navigation by Google Maps, access to automotive applications from Google Play Store and the voice command of Google Assistant to manage the various functions of the vehicle and the multimedia system but also to answer calls and SMS.

Better connectivity on board

Drivers and passengers will benefit from the evolving ecosystem of Google and Android, no matter what device or smartphone they use, since the environment will also be compatible with other operating systems, including Apple iOS. These services will also be combined with Alliance Intelligent Cloud based remote software upgrades and vehicle diagnostics.

"With the integration of the Android platform into our infotainment systems, we are adding a new level of intelligence to our connected vehicles." says Kal Mos, Global Vice President of Alliance Connected Vehicles at Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi.

The partnership forms part of the next-generation technology plan "Alliance 2022", one of whose goals is to equip more vehicles with connectivity and cloud-based services.

Augmented Reality, a new tool to discover the Outlander PHEV

Outlander PHEV, still a top seller

The Outlander PHEV needs no introduction anymore as its success has been making talk about it for a few months now. Arrived in January on Quebec roads after years of waiting, the plug-in hybrid electric SUV has been breaking all sales records. It still leads the sales in September and allows Mitsubishi Motors to break a new record with 2,058 vehicles sold. In total, 4,402 Outlander PHEVs have been sold since the introduction of the vehicle on the Canadian market.

Three drive system modes for optimal performance

What makes the Outlander PHEV so successful is obviously its state-of-the-art technology that incorporates All-Wheel Control (S-AWC) as well as a 2-liter gas engine and two highly efficient electric motors to deliver impressive power and exceptional fuel efficiency. Thanks to three driving modes that adjust automatically, driving is optimized:

- EV Mode – The Outlander operates in full electric mode with AWD. It is currently the only plug-in electric hybrid SUV able to do so.
- Series Hybrid Mode – The gasoline-engine provides additional energy to the battery pack and to the two electric motors in case of low battery or sudden acceleration.
- Parallel Hybrid Mode – The gasoline engine drives the front wheels while the two electric motors operate when additional power is required. Any excess energy is delivered back to the battery pack.

Augmented reality to better understand Outlander PHEV technology

In order to help consumers better understand the operation of the Outlander PHEV and in particular the operation of its various engines, a new support tool has been developed and is now available in Mitsubishi dealerships. It is an object-based augmented reality (AR) tool that explores the secrets of rechargeable electric hybrid technology.

The Outlander PHEV AR tool overlays virtual animation to an actual vehicle to introduce the three drive modes in an interactive way to see how electricity, energy and power flows between the twin electric motors, generator and engine.

This augmented reality tool allow Mitsubishi dealerships to provide to cutomers a dynamic and efficient experience.

Two apps that enhance the Mitsubishi purchase experience

In addition, for an even more enjoyable experience for customers who go to the dealership, the MiShowroom and MiDelivery services improve the sales-to-delivery path through accurate, real-time, and transparent service.

MiExposition offers instant information on vehicle specs and details, makes it possible to configure the vehicle, obtain a price and also compare the Mitsubishi model to a competitor vehicle, directly in the dealership.

As for the MiDelivery system, it allows customers to manage their service appointments and easily communicate with their dealership using MyMitsubishi.

Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, a deserved success!

August was another record month for Mitsubishi with 2,415 vehicles sold in Canada, including 837 Outlander PHEV. A total of 3,848 plug-in hybrid SUVs have been delivered since the launch of the model earlier this year.

"Outlander PHEV is a game-changer that meets the needs of Canadians who want to drive more sustainably but do not want to compromise on SUV capability," said Kathryn Soubliere, senior manager, Sales Operations.

Indeed, the reasons why the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV meets a phenomenal success are numerous. As an SUV, it's a spacious, versatile and comfortable vehicle that meets the needs of families. From daily commutes to the office, to longer getaways on weekends, the Outlander PHEV offers all the equipment and technologies to make the journey enjoyable: programmable electric heating, the latest-generation multimedia system connected to your smartphone, hill start assist, adaptive cruise control, and many more.

But where the Outlander PHEV makes the difference, it is with all the savings that it allows you to achieve. The first plug-in hybrid SUV, powered by two electric motors and a 2.0-liter MIVEC gasoline engine, features a unique technology that combines three engine modes: EV all-electric mode, series hybrid mode or parallel hybrid mode. Many PHEV drivers have saved more than $ 125 worth of gas a monthsince they drove the SUV and the savings can be even greater for those who can plug in at their workplace.

In addition to these fuel savings, there is a reduction in daily travel expenses, as the Outlander PHEV benefits from all the advantages of the green licence plate as a plug-in hybrid vehicle: free parking in certain municipalities, privileged access to reserved lanes to avoid traffic jams, free access to the A25 and A30 bridges (more than $ 125 savings per month for daily crossings) and free access to several ferries in Quebec.

In addition, thanks to the government rebate, the purchase price of the plug-in hybrid competes with that of regular SUVs! Up to $ 4,000 discount is available depending on the type of financing you choose. The exceptional financing conditions offered in dealerships are also one of the reasons for this resounding success! You can benefit from a financing at 0% up to 60 months for rent.

"We have simplified the buying process for the customer from its affordability, widespread availability and its best-in-class warranty for its powertrain and battery. We are thrilled Canadians are responding."

The Outlander PHEV is not the only vehicle that convinced Canadians in August! The Mitsubishi RVR reached 479 sales, followed by the Outlander with 451 deliveries and the Eclipse Cross which added 412 sales. In addition, there are 236 units for the subcompact hatchback and the G4 Mirage sedan. These results are 18% higher than last year. Since January 2018, 18,028 Mitsubishi vehicles have been delivered across Canada.

They offer 120 km of autonomy in all-electric use before the combustion engine takes over. Mounted on a four-wheel drive platform, the XR-PHEV II Concept is powered by a 1.1 liter direct injection turbocharged MIVEC engine and an electric battery that recharges while driving and plugging it into an electrical outlet.

The Artificial Intelligence System integrated into the Concept XR-PHEV II optimizes the driving mode automatically according to performance parameters and external conditions. The driving is done in EV drive mode, series hybrid mode or parallel hybrid mode.

E-evolution

The E-evolution is a 100% electric SUV that is both "robust and ingenious". Outside, its muscular design, profile and face, impresses. Inside, we find the latest technological innovations of the brand.

An Artificial Intelligence system thus helps the driver for better performance.
